Colleges Working On Campus Sexual Assaults

Here's a story about a college that is attempting to improve Sexual Assault Procedures. The Campus Sexual Violence Elimination (SaVE) Act takes effect soon. It holds institutions of higher education responsible for the prevention of sexual violence, not just responding to it after assaults occur. "It also establishes standard procedures for disciplining those found guilty, and requires greater transparency on sexual violence policy and procedures, not just about rape but also domestic violence, dating violence and stalking." This has been brought about because of the Obama administration's task force on protecting students from sexual assault which comes out with his best practices study next month. This is in response to the growing number of female victims who have been sexually assaulted on campus and were completely unhappy with the way their institutions handled the matter. In the past at many universities if there has been a complaint of sexual assault, the issue has been investigated by a group of peers in the University honor system. Many of these universities have an honor code that dates back to the mid-1800s. The only sanction is expulsion which for many students is way too severe. Therein lies the problem. The victim should be encouraged to use of police and criminal justice system for a more thorough investigation and better resolution than a slap on the wrist. The best way for women to protect themselves anywhere but especially on a college campus is with one of our pepper sprays. They can disable an assailant for as long as 45 minutes giving you time to get away and seek help. We recommend this MaceTriple Action Spray that has a teargas component and a UV marking DYE along with a 10% concentration of oleoresin capsicum. Feedback on these posts is appreciated.
