Kubotan Key Chain Self Defense Weapons
Kubotan keychain's are highly accessible, extremely durable, effective close quarter self defense weapons. A kubotan is commonly used to stabilize the closed fist, to apply pressure to sensitive body parts or to gain leverage against an attackers fingers or wrist. Our Kubotan's are 5.5 inches long and made of aluminum and come in various colors and have either pointed or flat tips.
The kubotan is legal and entirely unregulated. To most people, the Kubotan is little more than a nondescript key ring. While the Kubotan is not particularly intimidating, it is an extremely effective striking and pressure point weapon.
The Kubotan is usually held in either an ice pick (for hammer fist strikes) or forward grip (for stabbing and pressure point attacks). Common uses include hardening the fist (fist load) for punching, attacking vulnerable parts of an assailant's body, and gaining leverage on an assailant's wrist, fingers and joints. With keys attached, it can also function as a flailing weapon. 5 1/2 inches long. Available in Black, Red, Royal Blue, and Silver

The Kubotan, was created by Grandmaster Takayuki Kubota as a compliance tool for police officers. In the US the grew in popularity during the 1970's, this was after it was introduced to the LAPD. They began training female officers in its application. The kubotan is known for its ability to break the will of the most aggressive suspects with painful locks and pressure point applications. The Kubotan gradually expanded to the civilian self defense market and is now one of the most popular and widely carried self-defense tools around.
Although smaller and shorter, the usage of a kubotan is very similar to the yawara stick. As with the yawara stick, the key attack areas self defense include bony, fleshy and nerve targets such as knuckles, forearms, bridge of the nose, shins, stomach, solar plexus, spine, temple, ribs, groin, neck, eyes etc.
As a pressure point and pain compliance weapon it can attack any point a finger can, but with greater penetration because of the smaller surface area at the ends. For example, a law enforcement officer may wrap his arm around the suspect's neck while simultaneously digging the end of the Kubotan into the small of his back. The officer may also reach around the suspect's neck and underarm from behind and cause pain by digging the end of the Kubotan into the top of his pectoral muscle. One typical pain compliance technique is a wrist "gasket" lock in which the attacker's wrist is captured and sealed around with both hands and the body of the Kubotan laid across the radial bone. Downward squeezing pressure is then applied to the bone to take down the opponent.
