Hurdle In Domestic Violence

Domestic violence in a relationship is about as difficult a situation to handle as any. It is fraught with hurdles. This story is about one Domestic Violence Hurdle that typifies the problems with domestic violence. It essentially talks about police involvement. "When a police officer responds to a (domestic violence) call, the first thing he or she does is to separate the people involved and try to piece together what happened. The officers then attempt to discover who the main aggressor is in the situation. Ninety-nine percent of the time, that person is the male, but he and other officers have also seen females who instigate the violence. Many times the victims of domestic violence do not cooperate with the police. Whether it’s because they are still in love with the aggressor or because the aggressor is the victim’s only source of income, there are many victims who do not want to press charges against their abusers and will not testify against them in court. The question then becomes why do so many victims back away from filing charges when the police show up? Why do women choose to stay with their abusers rather than go out on their own and live a violence free life? Research shows that it can take as many as seven attempts to leave a domestic violence situation before they actually leave. Among the many internal and external factors play a role in the person's choice to remain in an abusive situation are threats made against the victim or family members, cultural or religious beliefs, and a lack of resources such as a place to live or access to a stable income. Internally, the most consistent thing is that they suffer from poor self-image and confidence, which is what the abuser preys on. The question for so many women is it easier to stay and put up with the abuse or leave? It is not easy to leave. There are ways to identify the signs before it gets out of control, and there are plenty of resources if you’re feeling scared or alone. Among many other things women need are nonlethal self-defense weapons. This Sabre Pepper Spray is on a keychain and has a range of 10 feet with a ballistic stream delivery which reduces the chance for blowback. Feedback on these posts is appreciated.
