All About Stun Guns - Stun guns today are manufactured by major manufacturers like Streetwise, Stun Master and many more minor ones. Safety conscious consumers have more choices than ever before, when it comes to styles, designs, power capabilities, etc. but what is a stun gun? A stun device is hand-held and uses low amperage and high-voltage with two or more prongs on one end. It sends a powerful electric current to an assailant which causes extreme pain and disruption of the nervous impulses that control muscle movement. The muscles are overwhelmed causing an assailant to lose balance and become confused. Electrical current enters the assailants muscles, causing them to work rapidly and inefficiently, depleting his body of all blood sugars needed for energy. The result is debilitation lasting 10 minutes or more, enough time to get to safety. In theory, the higher the voltage the less time that you will need to apply to an attacker to get the desired effect.

There are six places that are best to apply a stun gun; the upper shoulder, lower rib cage and upper hip on both the right and left side-so six targets in all. Stun guns are proven over 95% effective, in independent studies.
