Why College Sexual Assaults Aren't Going Away

Despite all that has been written about College sexual assaults and legislation such as the Clery Act or Title IX that is an attempt to curtail it, College sexual assaults are not going away anytime soon. And here's why! First of all you have to understand that nearly 40% of all women on a college campus will be sexually assaulted during their time there. And it has been estimated that nearly 90% of all assailants are known to the victim. How can that be? More than likely they are classmates. Therein lies part of the problem. Male College students are keenly aware of how poorly felony assaults of fellow students are pursued by the campus police. Most Colleges have a reputation for being very lax in the pursuit of this felony crime. That is because once a felony is reported for statistical purposes the reputation of the University starts to become tarnished. Once that happens enrollment may decline and fundraising may suffer. So Colleges protect that reputation at all costs-especially by not reporting crimes. The other reason that College sexual assaults aren't going away is because quite frankly of the male sex drive. In the 18 to 22-year-old bracket, where college students exist, hormones are flying off the chart. A key ingredient in almost all sexual assaults is drugs or alcohol and with that age bracket, experimentation with drugs and alcohol is so prevalent as to be out of control. We have always recommended that female college students learn how to defend themselves by taking a self-defense course and arming themselves with a self-defense product such as a pepper spray or stun gun. There are thousands of self-defense products to choose from. One of the best is a pink keychain pepper spray that way it is more likely to be with you when there's a need. And, quite frankly, you never know when that need that need may occur. Guardian Self-Defense & Security Products LLC is one of the largest most trusted online distributors of non-lethal self-defense items and surveillance equipment in the US. We specialize in premium pepper spray, mace, personal alarms, stun batons and more. We are "The Self Defense Product Experts"!
