Using Pepper Spray To Keep You And Your Family Safe
Here is a story by a reporter from a television station in Alabama. It was originally about the student who got assaulted near campus.
You can read the whole story HERE.
The story goes on "That brings us to the question of how would you protect yourself if you ever needed it? Self protection can include a variety of self defense tools and a popular method seems to be pepper spray.
"It's bad," said Lt. Damian Williams of the Madison police department. "It's very uncomfortable; the pain is really intense."
Williams had to be pepper sprayed as part of his training.
"During the time that you are exposed and feeling the effects of it, it's pretty uncomfortable," he said. Taking a direct hit in the face can keep an attacker down for nearly 30 minutes. Athens resident, Jennifer Duncan, always keeps her spray by her side.
"I would unload it on anybody who tried to come in and break into the house that isn't wanted here," she said.
Duncan has had her can of pepper spray for nearly a year. She said she prefers the spray over any other form of self defense.
"Pepper spray is more effective," she said. "You have to get too close with a taser and I can be 20 feet away and spray you."
